When it comes to fashion and beauty, there are several magazines that many of us ladies turn to: Vogue, InStyle, Allure, etc etc ??? but when we???re all reading the same thing, the tips and tricks we glean from those pages suddenly become a bit less exciting. But never fear! Buried within the [...] |

A few weeks ago, I went to dinner with my girlfriends and as usual, our convo turned into a lively discussion about the latest beauty products we???ve been using. | Holly Bee! |
Speaking with a stylist the other day about upcoming designers, she was telling me how difficult is to "accept" invitations for fashion week when you don't know the designer, when is someone new and therefore nothing has been written yet about him. It's difficult because the schedule is already too tight during fashions week and you don't want to end up in an amateur show feeling that you are wasting your time. In the other hand, she was saying, we are the ones to support those designers, to "discover" them to the world, and so it's always a bit of a mental straggle to decide whether or not going or not going. Then i told her about my experience with Ohnetitel whose first fashion show I attended and the same, I wasn't sure whether or not I should go... and how amazed I was, and happy, when I saw the collection, the people and met Diane Pernet by the way! That day I kind of learned the lesson; just go and see. The same kind of experience she had with Jolibe... Joel Diaz is the head behind such a pure lines, no wonders he assisted Helmut Lang for 5 years. (a designer for who the girls behind Ohnetitel worked as well!). |

| Fashion week Heaven & Fashion Week is Hell. |
Days of stress. Fashion week around the corner and I'm booked to style an editorial for Mexican magazine Celeste with German photographer Claudia Grassl.
Fashion week can be the best moment to prepare an editorial in NYC, or the worst.- the best because the BEST models are in town so you can have the chance of working with them for your shoot. The worst because all the good girls are booked to do fashion shows and it's basically impossible to do a casting.
Another reason for which one should avoid fashion week to do a photo shoot is the fact that the most important showrooms are all closed dealing with the shows and so is IMPOSSIBLE to get any clothing. Only contacts will help you to get what you want... but those contacts work in fashion, therefore they are normally working their ass off with no time to deal with you.
getting the looks ready
Claudia and me are running like crazy these days all over Manhattan and Brooklyn to find locations, clothing, models... I have to say though that I'm getting some really nice clothing so far... remember those amazing zip-up Patrik Rzepski's stockings I talked about? I was able to get them for the shoot! I'm very happy about that... :) more news very soon.

| Question From The Sartorialist Email - Slim Shorts For Men |
I have not done this before and I'm not really an advice guy but I often get emails asking style questions so I thought it would be fun to post this one. Dear Sartorialist I love your blog TS. It's just wonderful! It's really a gift! Can you help me. I'm trying to find men's shorts that are tapered like Italian slacks. Thin in the leg instead of the ridiculous blouson shorts made by every single American manufacturer (and many European ones as well). I buy most of my suits/pants at Eredi Pisano. They have shorts in their catalog but you can't get them here. Burberry's has some thin ones but they are only so so. Borrelli's are wide (surprising). Any ideas? Dear Reader I don't know where to find truly tapered shorts (some of the madras seem a little more slim if you like madras) but shorter shorts are on the horizon which will have a more slimming effect. Think tennis shorts - I saw a few editors in Europe during the mens shows doing it and I'm now seeing realistic versions in the showrooms. Here is a guy at the Junya Watanabe show wear the shorter short successfully Photo courtesy The Sartorialist on men.style.comThanks for the question, I hope it helps. Do any of the readers have a suggestion on slim shorts? |

| At The Park, Lower East Side |
This kid and his Dad were playing at the park. The kid was literally climbing the walls or ,in this case, fences. I love that he has a feather in his hair - I don't know how healthy that is but kids are strong.
The "trad" kid on the scooter is also part of the family - I'm seeing a Family Ties meets the Lower East Side sitcom in the future for this family |
